Key Stage 4 (Ages 14–16)

A Critical Stage for Academic Success and Future Pathways

Key Stage 4 at Gothenburg International School (GIS) is a focused, high-expectation academic programme designed to prepare students for internationally recognised qualifications and future university pathways.

This is the stage where students begin to specialise, perform at a higher academic level, and prepare for important external examinations such as IGCSE or equivalent international qualifications.

A Strong Academic Programme with Clear Outcomes

At Key Stage 4, students follow a structured programme designed to build depth, discipline, and academic excellence.

Core areas of study include:

  • English Language and Literature

  • Mathematics

  • Science (Combined or Separate Sciences)

  • Humanities (History / Geography / Social Studies)

  • Optional subjects based on strengths and interests

This balanced structure ensures both academic rigour and subject choice flexibility.

  • Build resilience under academic pressure

  • Take ownership of their learning journey
