Gothenburg International School (GIS) welcomes applications from students of all nationalities and backgrounds who will benefit from an English-language international education.
Our admissions process is designed to be clear, straightforward, and supportive, helping families make a smooth transition into our school community.
GIS accepts applications for students within the age groups offered by the school.
Applications are welcomed from:
International families relocating to Sweden
Families currently living in Sweden seeking an English-language education
Students transferring from international, local, or independent schools
Families looking for a personalised learning environment with small class sizes
Admission is subject to space availability and the school's ability to meet the educational needs of the applicant.
To ensure personalised learning and individual attention, GIS maintains a maximum of 15 students per class.
As places are limited, families are encouraged to apply as early as possible.
Complete the school's application form and provide the requested supporting documents.
The Admissions Team will review the application and supporting information.
Depending on the student's age and previous educational background, the school may arrange a meeting, interview, or age-appropriate assessment.
Families will be informed of the admissions decision and, where applicable, offered a place.
To secure a place, families must complete the enrolment process and pay any applicable fees within the specified deadline.
Applicants may be asked to provide:
Previous school reports or transcripts
Passport or identification document
Any relevant educational or support information
Other documents requested by the Admissions Team
Students are generally placed in year groups according to their age, previous schooling, and educational background.
For detailed information, please refer to our Age Placement Guide.
GIS aims to support a wide range of learners through small class sizes and personalised teaching.
Where additional educational support may be required, the school will work with families to determine whether GIS can appropriately meet the student's needs.
GIS is committed to providing a welcoming and inclusive learning environment where students are treated fairly and with respect regardless of nationality, language, culture, or background.
Our Admissions Team is available to assist families throughout the admissions process and answer any questions about applications, placement, fees, or school life.
We encourage families to arrange a school visit and discover what makes GIS a unique learning environment.
Applications for the 2026–2027 academic year are now open.
