A Calm and Positive End to the School Day

For families who need care beyond the end of the school day, GIS plans to offer After-School Care (ASC) as part of the school’s wider support for students and families.

The aim is simple: children should have a safe, well-supervised place where they can relax, spend time with friends and take part in activities after lessons have finished.

More Than Just Waiting for Pick-Up

After-School Care should feel different from the classroom.

After a full school day, children need time to slow down, move, talk, play and choose how they spend part of their afternoon.

Depending on age, interests and the programme offered, activities may include:

• indoor and outdoor play
• arts and creative activities
• reading and quiet activities
• games and group activities
• opportunities to complete schoolwork
• time with friends
• student-led activities and interests

The programme will balance organised activities with time for children to relax.

A Familiar and Safe Environment

Children will remain within the GIS school environment with appropriate supervision.

We want students to feel comfortable at the end of the school day and for parents to know where their child is, who is responsible for them and how the afternoon is organised.

The same expectations for respect, behaviour and care for others that apply during the school day will continue during After-School Care.

Designed Around Students

Children of different ages do not need the same thing after school.

Younger students may want more opportunities for play and movement, while older students may prefer quiet time, reading, schoolwork or activities with friends.

The programme will therefore be shaped around the ages and needs of the students using it.

Working with Families

Families will be able to indicate during the admissions process whether they expect to need After-School Care.

This helps GIS understand demand and plan the programme appropriately before the school opens.

Information about opening hours, availability, registration and any applicable charges will be provided separately once the arrangements are finalised.
